[GHHF] Igniting the Spiritual Flame: "Dhoopa-Deepa-Naivedyam" Kits for Neglected Temples.
In the Sanatana Dharma, temples are not merely centers of devotion; they are centers from which divine power (Chaitanyam) flows constantly. However, over time, due to lack of financial resources and supervision, the daily rituals of Dhūpa (incense), Dīpa (lamp), and Naivedyam (food offering) have been discontinued in many temples.
What Do the Shastras Say?
According to our Dharma Shastras, the divine power (Chaitanyam) remains only if the daily rituals of Dhūpa, Dīpa, and Naivedyam are performed continuously in the temple. Scholars say that if these daily rituals are stopped or not performed properly, the divine consciousness gradually diminishes, and the temple becomes dull and lifeless (Nistējam).
The decline of spiritual power and religious thought in society today, and the weakening hold of Dharma, is also largely due to such neglected temples. When centers of power become dull, their influence on society also decreases.
GHHF's Resolve: Restoration of Centers of Power
Recognizing this danger, the Global Hindu Heritage Foundation (GHHF) is conducting the 'Dhūpa-Dīpa-Naivedyam Kit Distribution' program every month with the great resolve to transform temples back into centers of power.
In this month of October as well, GHHF members identified remote temples that were neglected and in a state where pujas could not be performed, and provided them with free kits containing essential items for daily worship. This kit includes necessary puja items like Naivedyam materials, lamp oil, wicks, incense (dhūpam), camphor, turmeric, and kumkum.
Local Participation – The Continuous Lighting of the Lamp:
This service does not stop only with providing materials. Local devotees residing around the temples are identified and entrusted with the responsibility of lighting the lamp in the temple every day. This ensures the continuity of the divine consciousness and provides an opportunity for local devotees to participate in the temple's service.
The cooperation of everyone is necessary for this effort by GHHF to transform temples from mere buildings into centers for the flow of spiritual energy. GHHF believes that only by reviving the discontinued daily worship can religious power and the glory of Sanatana Dharma be re-established in society.
