Your Support will be appreciated.
Global Hindu Heritage Foundation has distributed TWO weeks supply of Dry food items to about 20 Haridasulu in Anakapalle, Visakhapatnam District. Sri Srinivas Pinnamaneni has coordinated the event with Sri Kollu Srinivasa Raju.
Hariadasas are the people who are defined as servants of Hari – Lord Vishnu. They usually wear bright-colored clothes with a Tambura in their right hand and Akshayapatra atop their head. Usually, they go to each house and beg for rice, money, clothes, and other items. Generally, they wander the streets during Dhanurmasa that would culminate with Sankranti ( the middle of January). As per legend, Lord Vishnu took this Avatara during this month. They go to these villages singing by praising Vishnu – Rama, Krishna, Venkateswara and other Vishnu Avataras.
As we mentioned earlier, many Haridasa in VILLAGES are experiencing hardships and struggling to feed their families. GHHF is planning to distribute these items in Anantapur, Tirupati, Guntur, Vijayawada, Bhadrachalam, Hyderabad, West Godavari, and Visakhapatnam areas.
As we mentioned earlier that we wanted to distribute dry goods in these areas to about 600 Priests. Now the number increased to 750. We are expecting to distribute about 1000 easily in the next few days. We have included them in this group as they also serve Bhagavan by singing songs in praise.
Each bag/kit will have the following items: Rice, Wheat flour, Cooking Oil, Urad Dal, Moong Dal, Brown Sugar, Tea Powder, Meal Packet, Chilli powder, Soaps, Tamarind, Turmeric, Sugar, Coconut oil, Upma Ravva, Mustard Seeds, and other items. It may vary depending on the requests of the priests in these cities.
Since the Lockdown due to the fear of spreading Coronavirus, all the Hindu Temples are closed. Now, many Pujaris / Hindu Temples priests are having a hard time meeting their basic needs. Many of them do not have any salaries either from the government or the private Temples. Most of them do not have enough savings to pay their rent and electricity. Furthermore, many private temples do not have enough income to pay their salaries. Consequently, many Pujaris do not have enough resources to meet their daily expenses to provide meals for their families. Recently, newspapers wrote about some priests begging on the streets as they could not provide meals for the family. That news pained so many people and some organizations are helping them financially. They are facing a grim and grave predicament.
It is time to help these Priests to meet their basic needs with our generous donation. It is time to acknowledge their invaluable service to Hindu Temples and Hindu Dharma. It is time to protect their dignity and self-respect.
