Hyderabad: The fund starved YSR Government, to support its prestigious Jalayagnam, is now eyeing on cash rich Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. The TTD has about Rs.15,00 crores of reserve funds. Andhra Pradesh government is contemplating with an idea to barrow Rs.500 crores from TTD by issuing irrigation bonds. But the rules prevailing does not permit so.

To overcome this situation government is planning to enact law in assembly to enable it to draw funds required for jalayagnam. But the official and parties
are opposing the move. The congress MLAs are in fear of public outcry against the move. The political parties are ready to launch a scathing attack on
government, if it does so.

The TTD funds are to be used to serve the destitute, or for spread of spiritual knowledge pertaining to Hinduism, opined a TTD member. However government is overcautious on this and don’t want to take any hasty decision.
