Five temple employees suspended

GUNTUR: Endowments Commissioner’s surprise inspection brought to the fore the lackadaisical attitude of the temple staff at Pedakakani temple on Tuesday.



Commissioner Sundara Kumar suspended three priests, two Class IV employees and relieved incharge executive commissioner B Veera Reddy.

Sundara Kumar visited the temple at about 7.30 am and found that three of the six priests were not present. He immediately ordered the suspension of priests Ch Koteswara Rao, KVS Avadhani and K Badari Nath on charges of dereliction of duties.

He also inspected the shed where tonsures are done and expressed dissatisfaction about the sanitation there. He also suspended Class IV employees LS Murthy and Venu and directed the officials to issue notices to four sweepers and attenders.

Later, he informed the in charge executive officer B Veera Reddy over telephone that he had been relieved of his responsibilities and appointed assistant commissioner of endowments P Surya Kumar in his place.
