Pada Sparsa – Importance
Our Children are taught about the richness of our culture by teaching about various scriptures and the timeless wisdom found in them.  Our students will learn how Hindus conceive the abstract concept of God, their features, physical features and the divine qualities. We talk about the characteristics of Lord Rama, the attributes and his behavior and the qualities that we can emulate. Many of our Gods are incarnated at different times and we try to explain about different Avataras and the purpose of incarnating at a particular time.

As per Hindu scriptures, the practice of touching the feet of elders was adopted in India during the Vedic period and is called Charan Sparsh (charan means ‘feet’ and Sparsh means ‘touch’). According to the Hindu tradition, when you touch the feet of an elder person, you are in turn blessed with knowledge, intellect, strength, and fame.

The act of “Padasparshan” ( touching of the feet) has a profound meaning behind it.
•    While doing the Padasparshan , the nerves in our body which are spread throughout, starting from the brain to the fingertips and toes are aligned and when the fingertips touch the feet of the opposite person there is a closed-circuit connection that is established between the two immediately .
•    The energies of the body are connected and your fingertips become the “receptor” and the foot of elder person becomes the “giver of energy”.
•    When the elder person accepts this respect, their heart is filled with positive thoughts which they give out through their feet.

The right way to touch feet
To touch the feet of an elder or respectable person, you must bend your upper body in front of them, without bending your knees and stretch your arms forward. The arms should remain parallel and should be stretched in such a way that your right hand touches their left leg and left hand touches their right leg. The elder person should then touch the top of your head with their right hand and bless you.
