[GHHF] Bala Samskar Kendra students learned that God sends help in unusual ways; but we should know how to recognize His Ways.
There used to be a town on the bank of a river. All the people in the village were calm and close together. There was a temple in that village. During the day, the people of the village used to worship in that village. They used to patronize the priest in the temple. One year, there was heavy rain in such a fruitful village, the river overflowed, and there were floods. The whole village started to be filled with water. All the people in the village left their homes and went to separate places to escape the flood.
A gentleman ran towards the temple and begged the priest to come with them: "Flood water is coming into the village, there is water up to the roofs of the houses, and the situation is dangerous. We are all leaving town; you, too, come with us!” Then the priest calmly said, “Don't worry about me. My Lord, whom I serve forever, will protect me. You go.” Hearing this, the gentleman left.
After some time, the water came up to the waist. While the priest was chanting from the front of the temple, few people in a horse carriage stopped and asked the priest to join the carriage. But the priest said to Mattu, "God will save me!" They stayed in the temple. After a while, the water reached up to the neck. People traveling in the boat saw him and begged him to come with them. “Are you still here? It is too dangerous to stay here, the water is coming amazingly fast, you come with us!” But the priest told them, "You go, God will save me."
Shivering with cold, the priest was even more shocked when the water came up to his nose. Soon, the entire temple was flooded with water. The priest sat on the gopuram of the temple while meditating on God. After a while, it started getting dark. It never stopped raining; it's cold, and the water flow doesn't seem to stop anywhere. “God! What have I done you less? I worshiped diligently every day. I believed in you! But why did you not come to save me!” He started complaining to God.
God appeared. “You fool! I have sent you a man, a wagon, and a boat! You did not come here yourself. Is it my fault if you do not recognize me?” God reprimanded and disappeared. The priest immediately became enlightened. He realized his mistake and apologized.
After some time, some people were seen in another boat. "The priest! I know you are still here. Come with us. It is not good to be here!” they said. The priest boarded the boat without saying another word and saved his life.
God sends us help in one form or the other to save his devotees. But we must be deserving of it.
