You must not let your life run in the ordinary way; do something that nobody else has done, something that will dazzle the world. Show that God's creative principle works in you.”
― Paramahansa Yogananda
Global Hindu Heritage Foundation is very happy to inform that we have started about Bala Samskar Kendras (Schools for children and youth) to enrich them with greatness of Hindu Dharma and the appreciate the sacrifices many leaders have done to protect Bharat. There are many kings who have achieved to the new heights in their skills, talents and strength. Unfortunately, Bharath denies its history to their own children and glorified the most undeserving rulers. The government has corrupted the minds of young students since Independence from 1947.
Paramahamsa Yoganand
Teachers taught about the life, the spiritual journey, the establishment Self Realization Fellowship, writing of Autobiography of a Yogi, and the propagation of Kriya Yoga.
Yogananda was born in Gorakhpur, Bengal in 1893. Originally his name was Mukunda Lal Ghosh. He was given the name of Yogananda after his initiation as an Indian Swami (monk). At the age of 17 Yogananda became a disciple of Swami Sri Yukteswar who expertly guided him along the spiritual path. Sri Yukteswar was a direct disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya. He is credited with reintroducing the ancient art of Kriya yoga into modern society.
He came to America in 1920 and established Self Realization Fellowship the same year. He took up residence at the SRF hermitage in Encinitas, California which was a surprise gift from his disciple Rajarsi Janakananda (Around 1936). From 1924–1935, Yogananda traveled and lectured widely, speaking to capacity audiences in many of the largest auditoriums in America — from New York’s Carnegie Hall to the Los Angeles Philharmonic Auditorium. The Los Angeles Times reported: “The Philharmonic Auditorium presents the extraordinary spectacle of thousands….being turned away an hour before the advertised opening of a lecture with the 3000-seat hall filled to its utmost capacity
Autobiography of a Yogi is one of the world's most acclaimed spiritual classics.
As the life story of Paramahansa Yogananda — who is often referred to as the Father of Yoga in the West — this book has touched the hearts and minds of millions around the globe. Translated into forty-five languages, it has served as an ambassador for India's ancient science of Yoga, introducing countless readers to the methods for attaining God-realization that are India's unique and lasting contribution to world civilization. The Autobiography has been an inspiration for many people including Steve Jobs (1955–2011), co-founder, former chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. In the book Steve Jobs: A Biography the author writes that in preparation for a trip, Mr. Jobs downloaded onto his iPad2, the Autobiography of a Yogi, "the guide to meditation and spirituality that he had first read as a teenager, then re-read in India and had read once a year ever since."
Death
Before his death, he assembled some of his closest disciples including Sri Daya Mata and gave a very powerful message:
“My body shall pass but my work shall go on. And my spirit shall live on. Even when I am taken away I shall work with you all for the deliverance of the world with the message of God.
When he died, they put his body in a glass casket. His body did not deteriorate for about two weeks. Forest Lawn’s Mortuary Director, Rowe, was professionally well qualified to distinguish the exceptional from the ordinary. He continued in paragraphs fourteen and fifteen: "The physical appearance of Paramhansa Yogananda on March 27th just before the bronze cover for the casket was put into position, was the same as it was on March 7th. He looked on March 27th as fresh and unravaged by decay as he had looked on the night of his death. On March 27th there was no reason to say that his body had suffered any physical disintegration at all.
KRIYA YOGA:
Yogananda gave a general description of Kriya Yoga in his Autobiography: "The Kriya Yogi mentally directs his life energy to revolve, upward and downward, around the six spinal centers (medullary, cervical, dorsal, lumbar, sacral, and coccygeal plexuses) which correspond to the twelve astral signs of the zodiac, the symbolic Cosmic Man. One-half-minute of revolution of energy around the sensitive spinal cord of man effects subtle progress in his evolution; that half-minute of Kriya equals one year of natural spiritual unfoldment".
