It is India that gave us the ingenious method of expressing all numbers by ten symbols, each receiving a value of position as well as an absolute value, a profound and important idea which appears so simple to us now that we ignore its true merit.” Pierre Simon de Laplace ( 1749-1827) French mathematician, philosopher, and astronomer
Global Hindu Heritage Foundation is very happy to inform you that the overwhelming majority of Bala Samskar Kendras are being taught about the importance of samskaras, the greatness of our scriptures, the bravery of national heroes, the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and the inner meaning of various dimensions of our culture and traditions.
The essence of Lingabhishekam
Shiva Abhishekam is usually performed to a Lingam representing his manifestation as a creator of good (by destroying evil). In many temples, one finds a vessel hung over the Lingam, that continuously drips water or other offerings onto the Lingam in deference to Shiva's desire for Abhisheka. Also Abhishekam is performed by using variety of items such as water, milk, curds, honey, turmeric water, kumkum water, Panchamruta, Panchagavya, and other items.
Sky is Linga. Earth is its base. It is the abode of all the gods. This is where everything falls into place. That is why it is called Linga. 'Lim' means that which is invisible to our eyes and 'Gam' means a symbol. That is why it is gendered. All this creation is Shiva Maya. All this was created by Him.
Just as we take a bath to remove the dust, dirt and grime from our body, we should also abishek Shiva to cleanse our inner filth. Rajas means rajoguna and dust. We should anoint Lord Shiva to reform our Rajoguna and become humane.
Shiv Abhisheka should be done to realize that we can experience the fruits if God grants them all by leaving the pride that we have acquired them with our intellect. The implication of Abhishek is to express gratitude to the Lord that we are worshiping you with the wealth that you have in mind. Asking for humility is an anointing. It is the natural pride of man to think that he is the most special person in creation and that there is no one else like him. But the mantra part of Rudradhyam heard at the time of abhisheka is an eye opener for us. All creatures, plants, etc. in the creation are the embodiment of Lord Shiva, and we should perform Shiva Abhisheka as we wish to bring good fortune to all creatures. The meanings of the mantras that come out during abhishekam touch our inner being and awaken us. Then Paramashiva, the embodiment of Jnana Jyoti, appears in us.
Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is most pleasing to Lord Shiva
The most popular mantra is Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra from the Sukla Yajurveda Samhita III.

||Om Trayambakam Yajaamahe Suganghim Pushtivardhanam
Urvaarukmiva Bandhanaan Mrityor Mokshiya Mamritaat ||
The meaning of the Mantra is as follows
I worship thee, O sweet Lord of transcendental vision (the three -eyed one or Lord Siva). O giver of health and prosperity to all, may I be free from the bonds of death, just as a melon (or cucumber) is severed effortlessly from its bondage or attachment to the creeper.
