“The religious superstition is encouraged by means of the institution of churches, processions, monuments, festivities....The so-called clergy stupefy the masses....They befog the people and keep them in an eternal condition of stupefaction.” Leo Tolstoy

Global Hindu Heritage Foundation has organized the Ghar Waapasi program in one of the S C Colonies in Visakhapatnam city. Our Pracharaks Sri K Srinivas Raju and Y Santosh came to know that Christian missionaries are going around  S C Colony and trying to persuade them to convert to Christianity. They showed the book that compared the Bible and Bhagavad Gita. They pointed out the verses in the Bible that demean women. For example,  Numbers31: 17-18 says” So now, kill all the boys, as well as every woman who has had relations with a man, 18but spare for yourselves every girl who has never had relations with a man.”   They stayed for about three hours talking about Bhagavad Gita and Bible and the intolerance of Christianity. Few examples were given about the role of women in Church:

"A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety."[1Tim. 2:11-15]

"Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy,"[Eph. 5:21-27]

They talked to several Hindu family members about our efforts to welcome back to the Hindu field those who converted to Christianity. They informed about the tactics Christians use to entice Hindus and how they trap them when they are in vulnerable situation. Our Associates Kollu Srinivasa Rau, Santosh (John Paul was his name before he returned to Hinduism) and his friends have been actively involved in visiting a number of villages in West Godavari District and Visakhapatnam. They distributed a 4-page document containing the rights of Hindus to encounter Christians and how to stop the construction of illegal churches.

The Christian pastors are following the teachings of Jesus who says that he is a jealous God.  But all these Pastors claim that Christianity is a religion of peace. If Jesus is a God and decides our lives, how do we explain the differences among so many Christians. Why some people are poor, and others are rich. Some people have health problems all the time while others live with no major health problems. If Jesus is the savior, why did he create so much disparity in society. If Jesus is compassionate and loving, why is he creating so many problems for so many people even among Christians, Is Jesus a biased, jealous and hateful person?

Our Associate Santosh (Who was known as John Paul) returned to Hinduism after practicing Christianity for several years. He started asking questions about some of the verses in the Bible. Pastors were questioning his faith and were blaming him for asking the questions. In order to silence him, they said that they would train him as Pastor.  He thought he should read the Bible and know its contents before getting training to become a Pastor. He was surprised and shocked by the Bible and realized that the Bible is  bloody, voluptuous, violent, and killings. It contains rapes, incest, extramarital affairs and stoning to deaths.

In the Bible you hear people talking about Jesus totally ignoring them and not helping them or come to their rescue.

1 King 11:3-4

He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines—and his wives turned his heart away. 4For when Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and he was not wholeheartedly devoted to the LORD his God, as his father David had been.

Deuteronomy 7:4

For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

Deuteronomy 17:17

Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.

Many of them asked about the Pastor's assertion that they may be burning eternally in fire if they do not convert to Christianity. Our Associates informed them that God is not a killer and would not punish. God’s character is all loving, all compassionate, and all forgiving. So, they do not have to fear God to return to Hinduism if they desire to do so.

Many of them were surprised to find out what was written in the Bible and were happy to know something about Sanatana Dharma. As we all know very few Hindus have any idea about the richness of Hinduism. It was a pleasant surprise to find out something about their ancestors’ faith.
