HYDERABAD, FEB. 23. The Endowments Department has taken a policy decision to conduct religious discourses on a continuous basis for turning the people to God and to the country's spiritual heritage and culture.

To start with, a one-week "Bhagavatha saptaham" will be organised at Telugu Lalitha Kalathoranam here from February 25 by Sri Siddeswarananda Bharatiswamy, head of Sri Siddeswari Peetham, Kurtalam.

The Endowments Commissioner, K. V. Ramanachary, announcing this at a press conference here on Monday, said another initiative would be a meeting of students appearing for different examinations with Sri Jayendrasaraswathi on February 29. This would be to enable them to get the

"blessings" of the Kanchi pontiff before facing the examinations. Parents were also welcome. This would be followed by a spiritual "raga sagara" programme by Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamy on March 22, a day before Ugadi, at L. B Stadium.

Answering questions, Mr Ramanachary said the policy would be implemented in coordination with the Dharma Prachara Parishad of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and with sponsorship, if any, from donors etc. Also proposed were harikathas and burrakathas .
