Feeding Monkeys, Cows, Street Dogs and Birds during Lockdown in India - 12 April 2020
As we all know that deadly Coronavirus is gripping the humanity irrespective of the country, race , sex, age and the boundaries. Most of the countries are enforcing social distance which prevented people to come out of their houses. As of April 12, there are about 114,253 people have died. There are more than 1,853,357 confirmed cases in 210 countries and territories. The whole world is struggling to fight this virus to minimize the death rate.
In India, there are 9152 confirmed cases and recorded 308 deaths. It declared nationwide lockdown from March 24 thru April 14. Plans are underway to shut down until the end of April.
During this lock down period, we all know that people cannot come out on the streets to feed Cows, Monkeys, street dogs and birds. They are all roaming without food and water. Generally, these animals are totally dependent on humans to feed them either in Vegetable Markets, Temples areas, individual homes or in the streets. Since people are not able to venture out even to buy basic needs, these animals are deprived of their food and water.
Sri , the Board member of Global Hindu Heritage Foundation (GHHF) and who coordinates our activities in Karnataka and other States in India received requests from different sources about the pitiable condition of these animals. Few people called Savetemples office and appraised of the sad situation. Immediately Sri Ram Sharma Garu took the initiative to start in Kalyandurg village, Kalyandurg Mandal, Anantapur district. So, our volunteers in that Village started this operation to feed the animals.
It is decided to feed them until lockdown is lifted so that these animals would have enough food and water. We are grateful to the volunteers who have taken the responsibility to feed these animals.
