The Immigrant Legacy of Texas
Texas has long been a state of immigrants. The Tonkawa tribe lived here before anyone else claimed it. Then came generations of newcomers, including Irish, German, Mexican, Black families, and now Indian Americans, who built this state together. Today Indian Americans form Texas second largest Indian American community and are among the highest earning, most educated groups in the nation. They are doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, and scientists making America stronger every single day.
