HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam MLAs staged a demonstration at the building owned by Chief Minister's brother and Kadapa MP Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy in Gurukul Trust lands, near Madhapur, here on Thursday.

Errabelli Dayakar Rao and P. Keshav had a heated argument with the police when the latter thwarted their bid to forcibly enter the premises. After their suspension from the Assembly, the MLAs proceeded to Mr. Reddy's building.

They questioned as to how the police could provide security to the premises that was `illegally constructed' on trust lands. Mr. Dayakar Rao said that when a TDP delegation visited the place two months ago, it was promised that no fresh construction would be allowed.

But now, the entire building was renovated and leased out to an IT firm. K. Balaramkrishna Murthy, Ch. Ramesh Babu, Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, G. Sayanna, K. Achan Naidu, P. Lalitha Thomas, B.C. Govindappa, Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao and former Minister K. Vijayarama Rao were present.

Earlier, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu flayed Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for "governing the State like his personal fiefdom."

Reacting to the two-day suspension of Telugu Desam members, he said all democratic norms were given a go-by. The Chief Minister's relatives were grabbing lands everywhere using the private armies to threaten farmers, he alleged.

"Anyone opposing the misrule of Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy is being silenced. Cases are being filed against Telugu Desam leaders. The Government is using income-tax raids to silence the Opposition. We shall fight the misrule," he fumed.

Later, Mr. Naidu said that party MLAs and leaders would visit Kadapa and West Godavari districts on a `fact-finding mission' in the coming two days.
